Why should I use Gentry Photography?
Photography is Gentry’s career and passion. Our professional staff have over 15 years of experience, professionalism and track record to give you the confidence that your images will be beautiful. Gentry and her staff of professional photographers take every precaution to make sure they capture the images you deserve and ensure they are secure. In fact, after each shoot, Gentry makes two back-up copies to safeguard against any unfortunate event. Gentry Photography will have the availability to order reprints up to 12 months after the original photo session. Additionally, Gentry is fully insured. (This is very important, be sure to ask other photographers if they are insured.) This type of skill and knowledge only comes from experience. With the influx of digital technology, it seems that anyone with a camera and website can call themselves a photographer. Anyone can take pictures, but Gentry Photography’s images tell a story.
Is photography really that important?
Your kids are only little once and before you know it they’ll be graduating high school. It’s important to capture them today before today becomes their yesterday.
Why are your packages reasonable?
The simple answer is that we have lower overhead than most. We work “in the field” and out of Gentry’s home, so we don’t incur high commercial rent costs. We have considered renting studio space, but to do so would increase package costs by 100 -200%. We feel that everyone deserves high-quality photography without going into debt. Don’t mistake higher prices with higher quality — peruse the galleries, read the testimonials, and speak to Gentry’s clients, you will see that Gentry Photography produces some of the finest photography in Oklahoma!
Can Gentry Photography save me money on a destination wedding?
This depends on the location, but a lot of destinations will actually save you money to use us! For example, a New York or San Francisco photographer would most likely be more expensive than hiring Gentry Photography to fly in and shoot your wedding. Seriously! So, if you’re interested in a destination wedding, don’t hire a local photographer, talk to us first! We’re good at finding deals and saving you money.
Why is wedding photography always so much more expensive?
Weddings are incredibly time consuming and require a lot of back-up equipment, which is very expensive. One camera can cost over $3000 and seasoned photographers have multiple cameras. There are tripods, memory cards, batteries and flashes. On a typical wedding I can have up to $600 in out of pocket expenses just in additional photography help and batteries. Then there’s the stress on the photographer(s) who are running around and challenged with not missing any of the details. It’s physically and mentally draining. After the wedding is over, there are hours of file transfers to back-ups, and each wedding takes about 15 hours to process for the first stage of the online proofing. After the order is placed, another 20 hours will be put into cropping and touching-up the photos that are ordered. Of course, there are the professional lab costs the photographer has to pay to get your photos printed too (we don’t use the Walgreens one-hour photo lab). So, when you see the price of wedding photography, maybe this will help explain why they cost more.
Are you approved to shoot at Tulsa’s Gilcrease and Philbrook Museums?
Yes! I have a pass that allows me to photograph at Gilcrease Museum at no additional charge. I am also an approved photographer to shoot commercially at Philbrook Museum. Their fee is $250 per shoot and there is no time limit. This fee is not built into my packages so you will need to pay the fee directly to Philbrook the day of your scheduled session.
Do you offer online ordering?
Yes! You can share your online proofs with friends and family all over the world and they can order any print, enlargement or gift that they need. Best of all, the order will be shipped directly to their house. We’ve built in fun features like “post to Facebook” and “email to a friend” and even a comment section. This is a great service and I have had lots of positive feedback.
What is your travel policy?
We love to travel! We don’t charge a “travel fee” but if your session or wedding is within driving distance outside the Tulsa metro area there is a $1.00 charge per mile round trip. (Miles are calculated using http://maps.bing.com) There is now no additional fee for my hotel stay. This is very generous travel policy – we want to capture your event, not spend your money on our travel expenses. However, if you are looking for a destination wedding photographer, we can do that too! You will be surprised at the cost of our destination packages. They are customized and I’m sure you will find that they are very reasonable.
Are you insured?
That’s a great question, and YES we are fully insured. If you desire, I can show you the policy during our consultation.
What should I wear to my family/senior session?
Black is always a safe choice for everyone, but bright colors look awesome. Reds, Oranges, Yellows, Blues and Pinks are always beautiful in portraits. If the session is outdoors, it’s a good idea to stay away from green clothing. If you are planning a family session with multiple people be sure to coordinate colors and don’t wear lots of patterns.
Do you print your own photos?
This is VERY important! We do NOT print our own photos. Even though we use a completely digital process to capture and prepare your photos, the prints are still developed in an out-of-state professional photo lab using chemical processing on equipment that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. This truly gives us the best of both worlds and gives you photos to last a lifetime. Digitally printed photos may look “OK” for a year or two, but typically don’t have the same quality, color depth, or longevity.
